In my experience, there are two groups who regularly claim to be mind readers, and few have the nerve to call this mind reading into question.

The first group claims to read the minds of important people, and you can see them every day on the TV "news"/entertainment shows. If everyone in the country would send me a penny every time they heard someone on those shows says "the president" or "the secretary" or "the minister" ; "IS THINKING", I'd retire after a week and the pennies could go to charity. Must be mind reading, how else can you be that sure of what someone is thinking?

The second group has even more hubris, they claim to know what God is thinking. This group is almost never called into question in any way, usually people send them immense amounts of money to get the latest news on what God thought today. Apparently, Israel has filled up with this kind of mind reader. As has the rest of the MidEast.
