Well, just for my own amusement, some 1950's street scenes.

And finally in Las Vegas, we find one

yes, one woman on the street with nothing covering her hair. If you can find any in the first two, you've got better eyes than me. And the other woman in Vegas does appear to be wearing a hat.

I'm not in favor of any dress codes, especially not ones enforced by a religous police unit. But it's very telling that one of the biggest outcries about the evils of the MidEast is something we shared with them only 60 years ago. I remember the era fairly well, and it was very uncommon for my mother to leave the house without a scarf or hat on her head. My grandmother just didn't do that at all. It was quite a way into the 60's before that custom died away entirely.

Picked up on a DWI charge, confined in solitary for two years.

I seriously doubt he'll ever see a penny of that settlement though, if he does, it'll be enormously reduced. Or the county will simply keep the suit alive until after he's dead.

What an awful story. At least he's free and now has family support. I hope that he does at least get a hefty chunk of the money awarded soon. This story illustrates well what happens when people in charge of things are so focused on either themselves or "the big picture" of institutions/organizations, but don't particularly care all that much about the "little picture" of how people are affected in such institutions/organizations. The issues in this story have really been a Third Turning and early Fourth Turning (post-Unraveling) theme, yes!?
