If the Socialists take power in France, I wonder how much things will change. Likely not much in terms of government or their financial crisis, but one thing that could shift is their feelings towards the United States. Sarkozy is relatively friendly to the United States and he's received severe criticism for that position.

Unfortunately French people on the whole don't like the USA. Quite irrationnaly, I must add. So much so that a French writer wrote a book about it in which he analyses the phenomenon. It's called "L'obsession anti-américaine" and the author is Jean-François Revel. But maybe you've heard about it or even read it.
