For anyone who is fuzzy on the geography of Iraq, the area under discussion is the area up around Irbil, where those hikers got picked up by the Iranians near the border.
I think banks in the US are in better shape than the banks in Europe, primarily because they are scared of what Obama might do. That's kind of funny, given I think Obama's a paper tiger, but it is a good thing overall. As for backing that up with facts, as John says, what facts? Obviously, few aren't lying. I could just as easily make myself out a liar as a genius with the "facts" that have been reported.
Pakistan is effectively in a civil war now, so I don't have any issues with your interpretation of how things will fall out.
