Gender Issues

Post by John »

One of the major developments in this Crisis era is that men and
women are adopting more stereotypical gender roles.

The rhetoric of the "women's lib" movement of the 1960s and feminism
was that women and men should be completely equal, and that any
societal difference between men and women should be attributed to
discrimination by men in a misogynistic society.

During the 1960s-80s, more and more women entered the workforce, and
feminists claimed that they were changing society by making the
workplace increasingly gender balanced.

However, that all began to reverse towards the end of the 1990s, as
more and more young college-educated women chose to stay at home and
take care of the kids, rather than work. Feminists considered this
to be an extremely alarming development.
