I did. He's a new poster. What, you can't admit that there are fans out there of this great musician-- that you don't like, for no reason that you can say?

You are correct Here is what "it" is advertising/spam.

I was merely pointing that you were responding to a pr0n spammer. The post had nothing to do with JB.

I moused over the link, and discovered indeed that the anchor text was self explanatory. I was most definitely not wanting to click it. I was wanting to make sure that Eric didn't click the link either.

Ragnarök_62, if you clicked that link, you are a brave soul. Deleting the cookie was a good idea too; along with the Privoxy blocking action.

Eric, you may be interested in the following excerpt from a new book on celebrities and the internet called Outsmarting Social Media by Evan Bailyn. The author looks like a Millennial or late Xer cusper from the photo on his site.

Justin Bieber– He follows his fans. That is a thrill for a fan. He is following 123,000 people. Bieber’s social media is working better than anyone’s because he has taken a very unique approach. He really interacts with fans, does YouTube challenges, and talks to people online all the time. The idea that he responds to people on YouTube makes the magic more alive than ever.

Yeah, I clicked on it... After doing some due diligence. Google didn't show it on some blacklist. However, since it spammed here, its website will now be on the Privoxy blacklist (after I get done cleaning up my 7000 line user.default file.) I made it from a DNS block list file. DNS requires every blocked hostname to be in the file. Privoxy just needs a domain name. Since some domains have multiple servers, I have 2 sections.
1. Block by domain name. This is where I put our "friend".
2. Block by server. This section is for entries that have only 1 server or messy websites like Facefuck and yimg (Youtube). I think yimg means youtube images. I don't want to block the actual video images, but I do want to block the ads. Facefuck is a gaming platform for Mafia Wars 2. I don't go around "liking" stuff since I've noticed that when my friends do a like, they get ads all about aforementioned likes. So Facefuck is like youtube. I have to pick which set of servers to keep and which ones to block.
3. Yeah. For each spammer, that stumbles on here, will get its domain blocked. I do intend to keep in the spirit of the GPL, that is it's nice to share all of my hard work with the fine folks over at privoxy.org. Ditto for openDNS, since that's where I got the list of servers I'm working on now .

Of course I know all about that, about JB. It may be an interesting book though.

Yeah, imagine you were a John Lennon fan in 1966, and he contacted you.

I was glad to actually hear a Justin Bieber song on the radio today, for the first time (As Long As You Love Me, his current hit). I've heard a number of the big hits of today a number of times. And yet I've heard Call Me Maybe only once, though I see it on playlists; and today was only the second time I heard Good Time.

The use of social media, including high levels of activity on Twitter and Facebook; as well as heavy use of mobile apps and texting, is natural for Millennials. The use of Twitter and Facebook is where they live, and for a Millennial like JB (and also Katy Perry, mentioned in the book review promo material I received) social media is obvious. It is not even a stretch as it is going where the fans and audience live: that is basic and straight forward marketing knowledge. I would think that JB's marketing team is also very social media savvy.

As is very well known, Yoko Ono is a heavy Twitter user. I don't follow her though; or JB or Katy Perry either, for that matter.

NBC sure showed its good taste tonight. On the America's Got Talent finale, they bring out the best. Justin Bieber performs his latest hit (now #7 on Billboard), and then they play Good Time as background for a video of the host's exploits-- and for a show promo too! And then to top it off we saw Green Day, arguably the best rock group of the 00s. Then on Rock Center, a new NBC news magazine, a short documentary and interview with "the Biebs" about how he's transitioning from a teen idol to an adult star, and how he brought Call Me Maybe and Jepsen into the spotlight. We even see a short clip of Be Alright. Pretty good, NBC!

This thread is about funny pop culture phenomenon, right? Well, Bieber is dethroned, because Psy came out of nowhere to bring Kpop to the top of Youtube's all time "like" record and Bieber's iTunes video sales spot.

I only have the slightest clue of what he's saying, but there's a lot of satire of the very musical forms and cliches that the video executes so well. Gangam btw, is a rich, hip part of town near Seoul where kids with lots of money go to show off their new trendy clothes and spend their parents' money.

It gets funnier every time I see it... lol...

Oh well, Bieber still has the Youtube record for most dislikes on a video!
Those words, "temperate and moderate", are words either of political cowardice, or of cunning, or seduction. A thing, moderately good, is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper, is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice.

That song cracks me up every time I hear it.

For now, yes; he's also the current #1 "social media artist" (that was Bieber's title over the last 2 years). Will G.S. get to 800 million views, and thus dethrone Baby for all-time views? We'll see! Baby had already been dethroned twice for most liked.

UPdate: it looks like it will break JB's record; already over 400 million views.

I'm not that impressed with Gangnam Style (notice it didn't quite make my top 33). But yeah, that record will be hardest to break; or maybe "most commented on" video; Baby has about an 8-1 lead over whatever #2 is.

It is wonderful indeed. One of the few wonders of today's pop culture, and thus worth celebrating and talking about. What is encouraging is how many young millies born in the mid-1990s are making good music, which we can hear on youtube. It is fulfilling my predictions about them. By already showing their potential, they are letting us know how much more they will create for us in the next decade or two. They may not satisfy your lust for rock-noise, but those of us who appreciate good popular music will be pleased. The fact that JB is connected to and promoting music by other young millies, even the best current song (Good Time), shows how important he is as the leader in the trend. And it's good he has some astute late-wave Gen-Xer managers like Scooter Braun helping him (he organized this concert tour, and these 3 artists are all his clients). You can call him the "pimp" I guess .

Ah, you haven't created a privoxy for Carly Rae Jepsen yet. More work to do!

http://youtu.be/yU8mAIXaWYs

Notes by the singer:

"I had a friend mention this song to me a while back but I never got around to listening to it. If I had, I probably would have recorded it already. To my surprise this song has a very moving message and melody. It tackles some of the more important topics in life most of us overlook on a daily basis. Just listening to this song proves how powerful of a medium music is in our lives, and how important it is to listen to the right songs if we want to remain centered in life. Music is a powerful tool, for good and bad. I've seen the damage it can do on the darker side...and how it affects people. But the cool part is the opposite is also true. When music is used as a positive influence with the right energy, tones, and emotion, it really can bless others in a dynamic and flowing way. It's a purifier...a cleanser if you will. This song represents that very well.

I watched a show on TV where they took plants and played music to them 24 hours a day for a week or so, and the ones given positive energy (music) blossomed into beautiful plants, and the ones played darker energies (death metal) killed the plants off. The same facts hold true for water as well. It can change waters molecules in an AWESOME way when it gets highly resonating tones and bright, clean energy....but does some UGLY stuff to water if given the dark tunes. It's a bizarre phenomenon. But think about this for a second. If music can either seriously bless, or taint water after so much time at the atomic level, then how much more should we be careful about what we listen to considering we as humans are 75% water? The energies we let in our lives, through music, TV, and friends etc. should be something we give thought to, or life will make those decisions for us. People are the biggest conduits of energy there is. Protect yourself from those things, including wrong people. They can be the most damaging in your life and bring you down in ways you don't even recognize with their energy and influence in your life. If people really knew how much their actions and words affected others around them, they'd cringe. We're all connected...and no action or spoken word comes back without a reaction of some kind, good or bad, you choose. I liken someone who spreads a negative and hateful thought to dropping a rock into a crystal clear still lake. The waves spread out from the center of where it was dropped, moving outward eventually affecting areas and animals/fish that are not even close to where the rock was originally dropped, but they felt it. That's a small example...but we're no different. The only difference is you have a choice to make. Do you want that affect to be good, or bad? We'd be ignorant to not admit there are many layers to our decisions, words, and intentions...and how they affect others in ways we may not even know. Back to my point....the phrasing in this song is cool. Come to find out Justin wrote this song himself. I don't think enough people give him the credit and respect he deserves for being as talented as he is, especially for his age. I read somewhere that he got the inspiration for this song from hearing "Man in the mirror" by Michael Jackson. As you guys know, that's one of my favorite songs as well.

So here it is you guys! Enjoy......"

very good-- E.t.G

Ryan Beatty is one of the good upcoming belieber-boy singers. His first video was a cover of JB's U Smile (one of the songs featured in the boy belieber videos I posted a while back here), and he has done many other covers of songs by many artists. I think his original songs are good too. He certainly has the "swag" and knows how to sing like him, and yet still be himself. According to answers.com he was born September 25, 1995, and is from Clovis CA. Here's his new original single:

Hey L.A.

This original came out soon after JB's Mistletoe, and the resemblance shows:

JB sure knows how to do a music video and get his fans to watch it. 3 million views and 200,000 likes on the first day. Can he beat out One Direction for #2 on the you tube 100?

(edit: yes he can!)

Justin is cool, but this guy is so cute:

Since I'm one of Justin's 47 million facebook fans, he referred me to this nice article:

(quote)
The world’s richest self-made teenager is sitting in his vast dressing room just hours before he goes on stage at the Tacoma Dome, 30 miles south of Seattle. With pale features, an Elvis-style quiff and a whippet-thin body, Justin Bieber looks younger than his 18 years.
Don’t be fooled, Simon Cowell warned me during an earlier interview.
‘The genius of Justin Bieber is he used the power of social media like no other artist – and he doesn’t stop.’
As the world’s first social-media superstar, Bieber built up a fan base of millions before he’d even signed a record deal.

Now he has 47 million Facebook fans, 29 million Twitter followers and three billion YouTube hits – a world record that puts him ahead of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Eminem.
‘Only a fool would underestimate him,’ added Cowell.
‘I’ve met him a few times. He’s bright. The kid is more in charge than people think. I know this industry, I know what it takes, and he will be around for a very long time.’
.....

Cowell was right to say he shouldn’t be underestimated.
‘I never stop working,’ says Bieber.
‘In what I wanted to do in music I’ve never had any fear. But now I’m at the top there’s nowhere to go but down; for me it’s about staying standing at the top. 'I’m not a kid any more – I’m an adult, I’m making the decisions and I want to keep on growing, and I believe I can.’

With Believe marking a departure from the swooshy fringe and ‘baby, baby, baby’ lyrics of his initial incarnation, the pressure is now on for Bieber to make the transition from boy star to adult performer. It’s a challenge, however, that leaves him unfazed.
‘I look at Justin Timberlake and Usher and see how they crossed over really successfully, and I’ve seen people go off at the deep end, get full of themselves, think they’re the best and end up not being anything. I’ve worked way too hard for that.
‘I definitely don’t want to be just another teen heart-throb. But there are different ways of growing. I want to be loved like Michael Jackson was, from the four-year-olds to the 80-year-olds.

'I am going to change and grow through my music and doing films. This album was different. My next album will be even edgier.’
Edgy enough to merit an explicit-lyrics warning, I ask? He shakes his head.
‘My music is never going to have swear words in it. Never.’
Bieber pulls up his trouser leg to show me tattoos of Jesus and hands clasped in prayer. He also has the Hebrew word for Jesus on his ribcage.
He no longer attends church regularly like he did as a child, but he is open about his beliefs.
‘I believe that He put me in this position, and that I have to always give Him the glory He deserves for putting me here.’

Unlike, for example, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake, Bieber didn’t spring fully formed from a major TV show.
Instead, aged 12, he appeared from nowhere – or more precisely, from YouTube, where his mother, Pattie Mallette, posted videos of her son singing in a local competition and in their tiny basement apartment in the blue-collar town of Stratford, Canada.
His backstory is straight out of a Hollywood script. Troubled teen (Mallette) gets pregnant by her on-again, off-again boyfriend (Jeremy Bieber). At 18, she gives birth, and – besotted by her baby – turns her back on drugs and alcohol and embraces Christianity.

Meanwhile, the father, 19, languishes in jail for assault. He and Mallette eventually separate.
At the age of two, Bieber starts playing the drums, and soon he’s astounding his mother’s friends with his natural talent.
A hyperactive child, he teaches himself to play the guitar, piano and trumpet too, and begins performing in his home town.
Then, when he’s 13, talent manager Scooter Braun spots him on YouTube. Braun flies him and his mother to Atlanta, attracts interest from R&B star Usher and gets him a record deal with Usher’s mentor LA Reid.

At 16, Bieber’s debut album goes double platinum. His dad reforms and settles down, and his mother tours the world with him.
‘What happened was I found something I wanted to be good at,’ says Bieber now.
‘I wasn’t good at school because I had no passion for it. If I hadn’t found music my life would have been bad.
‘My family are all poor, so the cycle would have continued. My kids would have been poor, and their kids would have been too. I feel I broke the cycle, and when you get to break the cycle, you don’t go back.’

Bieber was originally painted as a pretty puppet, with Braun, now 31 and worth £15 million, pulling the strings.
‘That’s the greatest misconception of me,’ he smiles. ‘People think I’m a product, that they found this good-looking kid, cut his hair nice and put Auto-Tune on his voice, wrote him good songs, taught him how to dance and then said, “Here is a pop star for you.”
‘I am the furthest thing from that. I’m a musician; I play instruments, I write songs. I’m a businessman; I want to create an empire. I want people to know I don’t just sing songs. I’m the guy who signed the girl who just had the biggest single all round the world (Carly Rae Jepsen with Call Me Maybe; he brought her to the attention of Braun, who gave him a 50 per cent cut when he signed her).
'I’m going to do movies – I’m talking with Mark Wahlberg about my first big movie. I invest in start-ups and IT. I have a very smart manager, but I always wanted to learn from him.

'The education I’ve had you couldn’t get in any school. If I want to be good at something I will be. I’m good at this.’
With all his money and fame he can do anything, except walk down a street without being mobbed. You wonder how he gets his thrills.
‘On stage,’ he says. ‘Playing a song acoustically.’..........

Oh great, he's a pious church boy.
To recommend thrift to the poor is both grotesque and insulting. It is like advising a man who is starving to eat less.
