Well, but.... our only main disagreement here has been about JB, and 3T pop; and here on this thread, so..... what else would you be "worried" about? I might actually be right about this..... You didn't take Venn diagrams in math at school? It was a great comparison tool for our conversation about music I thought. The Venn diagram intersects and has an overlap in the 1T and 2T of course.

The scared line was another joke of course. I am only making jokes here now for the fun of the banter. Take nothing seriously from here on from me. It is all good fun.

In fact I was going to say, that one thing I think you and others have missed out on is all those videos I posted here with or about JB that are really fun, and funny as hell, I think...... the one about JB stunning and punching out a co-host, which was a direct reply to comments made by Rags, is just the latest..... "I'm a believer now," says the host; "I feel much better now!" Others featuring Chelsea Lately, David Letterman (JB's top ten, etc.,), Johnny Depp with David Letterman, the girl who cried over him and got on Jimmy Kimmel, his Saturday Night Live monologue, his funny moments, and others; really fun.... OK OK I put in all the links for you....

I love watching these!

Oh, and here's another top 10 list!

someone you agree with:

Boy, this is quite a good boyband, and quite an accurate and well-done cover of the best song of the 3T or 4T:

Watch out One Direction; these three cuties may be gaining on you soon!

Here they are, GMD3, doing Call Me Maybe

http://youtu.be/1AzwYxiDwmU

Their version of Boys II Men I'll Make Love to You has a lot of soul.

Some fun too: analysis of the implications of the #1 song of the year 2012 that Justin helped make famous:

and by the same guys, another make-fun-of look at "The Bieb's" second-most popular song, twice!

That was such a nice cover of Pray. But here's another one from the Justin Bieber of organists (both early 1994 cohorts):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyO3b...IDsYFnFlJBsKLM

and I'll just EDIT to add this classic:

http://youtu.be/SgcjRP_Qv0I

and don't miss the winning smiles at the end. There are reasons for the title I've given him!

I wonder if Jimmy Kimmel can give Mr. Gangnam Style a run for his money with his Baby dance, and put JB back on top!

http://youtu.be/b_2_itrFayU

btw I'm happy to report that the ratio of likes to dislikes on my favorite contemporary pop song is now closer to 6 to 1 than 5 to 1. That's progress.

Just as I predicted Justin Beiber is starting to head the way of many other pop tween celebrities. He's becoming more popular for his media stints than for his actual music.

Anyone remember the Jonas Brothers? Whatever happened to them? Justin Beiber will be joining them in pop star limbo in a few years.

The female Justin Bieber sings Baby:

She (Clarice) was the other guest along with Bieber, on Oprah's "world's most talented kids" show on May 11, 2010 (embedded somewhere above on this thread)

shorter clip

I've come to appreciate that song more and more.

Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber, "Slave to the Rhythm"

Did JB get permission from the Jackson family for this remix? Much discussion...

Note that this post is about two different songs, but both have an R&B/Jackson influence.....

AND ALL THE HATERS I SWEAR THEY LOOK SO SMALL FROM UP HERE!!!!!

From the R&B song "Bigger," co-written by Justin from his first EP "My World" in 2009.

"Bigger"

Mafia (a tag that refers to one of the producer's names)

The love, the love is bigger,
The love, the love is bigger,
The love, the love is bigger, big

Gotta believe in me (gotta believe in me)
Believe me like a fairy tale (yeah)
Put your tooth under your pillowcase
No, I won't, I won't ever, ever let you down (no)
Like a see saw lets you down (oh) you know why
Cause we ain't on the playground no more baby

We're big enough to stand in the picture
We're big enough to stand next to love

I was a player when I was little
But now I'm bigger, I'm bigger
A heart breaker when I was little
But I'm bigger (I'm bigger), I'm bigger
And all the haters, I swear,
They look so small from up here
Cause we're bigger, and love's bigger
I'm bigger and you're bigger

Whoa, remember when my heart was young
It was still bigger than me (still bigger than me)
Is that the reason that you stayed
Most would've got rid of me
Now the bullies in the school yard
Can't take our hugs and our kisses from us
Because we ain't push-overs, no more baby,

We're big enough to stand in the picture
We're big enough to stand next to love

I was a player when I was little
But now I'm bigger, I'm bigger
A heart breaker when I was little
But I'm bigger (I'm bigger), I'm bigger
And all the haters, I swear
They look so small from up here
Cause we're bigger, and love's bigger
I'm bigger and you're bigger

Whoa, I was a player when I was little
But now I'm bigger, I'm bigger (hey)
A heart breaker when I was little
But I'm bigger (I'm bigger), I'm bigger
And all the haters, I swear
They look so small from up here
Cause we're bigger, and love's bigger
I'm bigger and you're bigger

Whoa,
(Remember those stroll down street) I remember that
(don't knock ya earrings) like yesterday
(They shine on me) we were little then
(in class daydreamed about you) my baby
Just remember
You wow wow (You wow wow)
Since then all I can remember is the love's only gotten bigger

I was a player when I was little
But I'm bigger, I'm bigger
A heart breaker when I was little
But I'm bigger, I'm bigger
And all the haters, I swear
They look so small from up here
Cause we're bigger, and love's bigger
I'm bigger and you're bigger

I was a player when I was little
But I'm bigger, I'm bigger (hey)
A heart breaker when I was little
But I'm bigger, I'm bigger (heart breaker)
And all the haters, I swear
They look so small from up here
Cause we're bigger, and love's bigger
I'm bigger and you're bigger

original studio version

I like it!!!

(and I don't know why this song wasn't "bigger")

EDIT: more about this fabulous song without making a new post

In the wikipedia article about the song, Jon Caramanica of The New York Times says the song is influenced by new jack swing

New jack swing or swingbeat[1] is a fusion genre spearheaded by Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle that became popular from the late-1980s into the early 1990s. Its influence, along with hip-hop, seeped into pop culture and was the definitive sound of the inventive Black New York club scene. It fuses the rhythms, samples, and production techniques of hip-hop and dance-pop with the urban contemporary sound of R&B. The new jack swing style developed as many previous music styles did, by combining elements of older styles with newer sensibilities. It used R&B style vocals sung over hip hop and dance-pop style influenced instrumentation. The sound of new jack swing comes from the hip hop "swing" beats created by drum machine, and hardware samplers, which was popular during the golden age of hip hop, with contemporary R&B style singing.
Merriam-Webster's online dictionary defines new jack swing as "pop music usually performed by black musicians that combines elements of traditional jazz, electronica, smooth jazz, funk, rap, and rhythm and blues."[2] Encyclopćdia Britannica calls it the "most pop-oriented rhythm-and-blues music since 1960s Motown", since its "performers were unabashed entertainers, free of artistic pretensions; its songwriters and producers were commercial professionals." New jack swing did not take up the trend of using sampled beats, and instead created beats using the then-new SP-1200 and Roland TR-808 drum machines to lay an "insistent beat under light melody lines and clearly enunciated vocals."[1] Encyclopćdia Britannica states that the "key producers" were Babyface and Teddy Riley.[1]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigger_...n_Bieber_song)

The song received generally positive reception from critics who reviewed the album, with a Billboard reviewer commenting that Bieber had "genuine swagger" on the song.

According to the Justin Bieber zone, co-writer Frank Ocean says the song, without Bieber knowing it, may have referred to Ocean's gay love affair.

The Justin Bieber of organists, the Dutch organ wonderkind, improvises perfectly on a Vangelis tune and 2 other songs. With plenty of his spirited warm smiles for the Summer Solstice!

So I guess I need to help Wayne get out of his hole with more comments on the obvious.

Obviously, Bieber does have "haters," and has had them for about 3 years now. JB used that term several times himself in comments which were posted here, at his 2012 AMA award acceptance speech "this is for all the haters" and in his recent Oprah interview, for example. The comments he refers to, which he gets in great volume on you tube and elsewhere, are insults like "piece of shit" and calling him "gay," which is as much a slam at gays as it is against him personally. There is a you tube video in which his picture is pelted with a machine gun. These are juvenile insults, not "discussion and debate," and it is "hate." Comments by people such as Wayne on this thread (for example, that he "does not care for his vocal stylings") are not hate. Since it mostly has to do with his high voice, it may be "age discrimination" that keeps him from appreciating the quality of his songs, but that is not "hate." Why the need to defend your opinion of JB against mine, with gratuitous statements about his tweets and words he uses in his songs and such, I don't quite get.

The main point is about the song, " Bigger." He co-wrote it for his first breakout EP "My World" in 2009, before his sensational popularity and notoriety had even begun. The word referred to detractors of young people in love, and probably had nothing to do with himself or his "haters," and certainly nothing to do with a "discussion and debate." Yet he was very prescient about what would happen to him later, when he got "bigger" and his voice got deeper, and like the characters in his song, how he could "rise above it." It is good advice for people like me who have "haters" (like one guy here I won't mention by "name"). So it is a "wonderful message," because JB himself is not the only victim of "haters" and "bullys," and he often stands up for these victims too. And he is "bigger" than his "haters" now, and they "look so small" from where he is now, "up here" as a big star.

And I am so glad to discover another JB song that I really like. How could I have missed it? And of course you guys still are "missing it," and maybe preferring to make gratuitous comments rather than just enjoying the groove of the song. But that's your choice, and you are welcome to it.

You adopted the word and used the word. Twice. Your weasling doesn't get you out of your hole. It's not my hole. You dug it yourself. Lame excuses and attempts to turn the tables doesn't change that fact.

You used the word in your own posts. Twice.

All I did was call you on it.

The hole you dug using the word twice was entirely your creation. Not mine.

It is now your word. You approve its meaning and implications. Embrace it. Or denounce it. Again, your choice.

I would recommend that you stop digging, but I am tired of your excuses. Enjoy the life in your ever deepening hole. Let me know what the core of the Earth looks like when you get there.

Have a nice day.

You are the one that defined the word as a wrong word. I explained why it not always is. It was solely JB's word. The view looks good from here. From up here I swear, the haters look small. Enjoy.

As another "smoothie" Alex Trebek says, "the view looks pretty good from here."

From demandprogress.org, I got this:

Eric,

The Obama administration just revived one of the worst provisions in SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act).

The Commerce Dept's Internet Policy Task Force has proposed making it a felony to stream copyrighted content (aka Section 201 of SOPA). Interpreted broadly, this proposal would apply to anyone who puts copyrighted music in the background of their YouTube video or uploads a video of themselves covering a song without permission -- which means, under these rules, Justin Bieber would be a felon.

Even sharing a video of your friend's embarassing karoake performance or your family singing "Happy Birthday To You" could put you in jail! Click here to fight back.

This is all because the federal government wants to make streaming -- including material which falls under the "public performance" category -- punishable by years in prison.

Jail time for streaming videos? Tell the Obama administration: NO!

Obama apparently hasn't been paying attention the past two years: The American people don't want SOPA-style internet censorship or to open the door for more prosecutorial abuse. Period.

We've stopped them before -- from SOPA to PIPA to CISPA -- and we can stop them again.

Tell Obama: we still won't stand for SOPA-style censorship.

Thanks

Demand Progress Team

Now, I know for some of you the above is a pleasing image. So just substitute your own favorite.
I'm signing! I'd have to take down most of my you tube videos. Stop them!

He has always been a little crazy, by his own admission. A little prankster.

Looking forward to some new music from Bieber. "Heartbreaker" is a new single, with more to come over the next 10 weeks. Will he keep his string of great songs going? Just about everything he has done, I like. And I even discovered a great one I had passed over before, " Bigger," this year. So, we'll see.......

Hey, maybe the view is pretty good from atop his bodyguards; the "haters" look so small from up there........

Everything he does, turns out right. Another good song.

Sort of the B side:

All That Matters

There is also a slower version; dunno which is authentic yet. But I like this one. Nice ending too.

This one is on his vevo page, so it seems legit.

OH and yeah I like this one too; maybe better than the above.

This one made the national news, ha ha! Justin Bieber must have used steroids, they said! ha ha. So, who's hotter, the Bieb or a Jonas?

http://youtu.be/xgOs9Rq-kGI

I guess he's officially made it into hunkdom now. Eat your heart out Rags. You said he would never be a hunk, and I did. Another official Eric prediction fulfilled. And don't mess with the Bieb!

EDIT: And he has the world's most lickable abs! "It's like NAMBLA!"

(No, I don't)

Steroids? No, he does not look like that.

Well, geez, sorry Eric, but you've forced my hand. Note to other fora members, y'all may wish to ignore the following.

1. First off, what I see wrt his looks is he's trained up as a body builder. Essentially, some mix of cardio to cut the body fat percentage to a low level. That is why you see the muscles so well. Now as far as the definition, obviously some sort of weight program to define the muscles (not necessarily make them bigger per se. ) Now here's where I can lower the boom on this whole thing.

1. Guess what? JB and I are the exact same height
2. Now if I go back to when I was in my 20's I hit the iron for health reasons. The doc said to get my heart rate past 90% of Hmax. Weights are the only way to do that Eric.
3. Now, I did get "bigger". Essentially, JB would need to hit about 160 to match what I hit. Now if he's stripping body fat, then 150 would be fine. I'd also say "bigger" in that shirts don't fit well and stuff as well.
4. Who knows how much "bigger" I could have gotten if I had JB's $ and trainer. If said trainer could read my gene codes, I think we'd go far.
4. Vandal fodder:
a. At 90% Hmax, I used a lot of the glycolytic pathway and incurred huge oxygen debts.
b. JB is using both the glycolytic pathway and the oxidative phosphorylation pathway

With all that said, it's a long way to the top at 51 if ya want to to stay in shape.

Cue it up , man. And for Wayne, It's a long way to the top, eh?

MBTI step II type : Expressive INTP

There's an annual contest at Bond University, Australia, calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term:
The winning student wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

Well, he being so naturally small and skinny, no cardio regimen was needed. And he's been lean and very athletic and hyper-active for years already.

Running?

No doubt about that; he has the money and support none of us have, although I admire his efficient use of time; something most of us can only dream of. He's a man in motion; less so than in the hyper-active, whirlwind days of 2010, but still impressive. Congrats on your own achievements though.

The best part about the whole thing is the song. "Bigger" is such a gem; such a perfect melody and performance. And so prophetic of what he would become, and would need to say later to all his "haters." Even though his voice was too high and he was too young for lots of macho guys, the high point of his performance skills may have been his first EP My World (e.g. Bigger, One Less Lonely Girl, Love Me; just amazing vocal harmonies and spirit!). And his dancing skills were better then too, I think. But now he's making even ME a little jealous with his muscles. I wanted that when I was 19. But I could never have beaten a retired basketball superstar in a celebrity match. Bieber is a champ, in several ways.
