No, it means one more year in which more good energy will have time to jell into some good sounds waves. After all, everything JB does is good. As for the universe, it is eternally grateful for JB too. And we can do no better than to be grateful for the universe. And for all good music it spawns.

Another great one from his Christmas album, All I Want is You is one of my favorite Bieber tracks. It has a wonderful Christmas-like sound, as well as a brilliant melody. Bieber wrote and produced it.

EDIT: another fine song from his Christmas album, a song he did with Boyz II Men

In my review of the best of JB, we've come up to the time since I have known his music. From now on, this is music that has come out since I began this thread.

This single was not a big hit, and did not appear on his new album. But it still may be one of his best; like the previous one I posted, it shows that his best is not necessarily his most popular; just like it is with other artists. This is a tribute to his Mom. It has some nice melody and guitar riffs.

His new movie is tempting; looks like a lot of fun. JB is always entertaining.

Sometime perhaps someone here will be brave enough to say, "yes, that JB song is pretty good." Lots of former "haters" were converted by this one, track one on his Believe album, released in June 2012. Happy new year, All Around the World!

This song takes EDM to heights rarely seen these days in pop.

Although he has released many good songs in 2012 and 2013, all my remaining picks for "best" of JB are from the Believe album. It is loaded with good songs, and is probably his best album overall, perhaps along with his Christmas album Under the Mistletoe which includes his best song.

Although JB's singing is not as smooth on this one as on earlier of his "best" songs, the title track of Believe has the characteristics I look for in a great song: great melody, great arrangement and production with abundant counterpoint and harmony, and performed with feeling to bring out the music. It was produced by the same duo ("The Messengers") who produced "Pray," and it shows. It could be considered as the follow up to "Pray." The Messengers also produced "Mistletoe" and "All Around the World," two others of his best songs.

Bieber is a promoter of "positive" philosophy, and tells his fans they can fulfill their dreams if they "believe." In this song, he's also singing to his fans; thanking them for believing in him. "Where would I be" without them, he asks. "They are who I do this for," he says in the promo for his concert movie "Believe."

Your guy just can't seem to stay out of the limelight:

Some of this just comes off as desperate in a way, but what do you expect from a kid who's shoved into the public eye before's he's old enough for high school. Should have just stayed on youtube, what was his mother thinking?

Bieber news and photos:
http://www.eonline.com/news/justin_bieber

JB the prankster loves to pull stunts. The media, and I guess the cops, love to make any little molehill into a mountain. Looks like his DUI drag racing episode was mostly something in the mind of the policemen who arrested him. Charges were dropped. Something went on with the egg-throwing stunt with his neighbor, though; he's still in trouble over that. But imagine making a big deal over Bieber saying, upon visiting Anne Frank's shrine, that she might have been a belieber if she were alive today. After all, statistically it's a pretty good chance! But he does need to settle down now, and polish his image. Start giving away more money again instead of getting big cars and mansions. Maybe JB the Christian needs to get back to Jesus instead of all the silver and gold, and listen to his mother.
http://youtu.be/xk9f8zhTwIg
My organist friend loves to play this late 40s/50s gospel tune. The singer/composer just died last year at age 104.

TMZ got the scoop on the manufactured DUI drag race:
http://www.tmz.com/person/justin-bieber/

Some time ago, I can't find where, I made a post about the Justin Bieber model that emerges each year. It probably started before he was a star, but let's just start with 2009. There's a new model of JB every year. As well as I can remember now:

2009, or age 15: cute and innocent, easy-going and mellow guy from Canada, singing "puppy love" songs that were mostly written for him.
2010, or age 16: dynamic, a little guy in motion, working all the time, always smiling easily. His long hair and swoosh is an icon. Big teen and tween sensation, doing great songs, and co-writing them all. Philanthropist and confessed Christian. Living in Atlanta by now. Music style more influenced by R&B and rap.
2011, or age 17: neatly-trimmed hair, polite young man, gracious interviews, movie star. Looks like a lesbian at times. Helps guys who are victims of bullys and does motivational songs. Becomes mogul and producer.
2012, or age 18: the Boyfriend look, Elvis/grease hair style, still fun but now with non-challant, cool look and expression. Writing and producing more of his material; proud of his Believe album. Goes out on his own and gets cars and a mansion in Hollywood.
2013, or age 19: The grease-look is now acted-out in reckless stunts and inept comments. Having always been athletic, now he's working out more, and getting more muscle and tattoos and taking his shirt off (and occasionally even his pants). His music style shifts to "stripped down" acoustic soul instead of highly-produced hits.

So what will the 2014, age 20 model be? Will his mother, managers and best friends succeed in rescuing Justin from his stunts and straighten him out? Will his new music style mature, and/or get more ambitious and hit-oriented again? Will his popularity decline? Will he have a more-limited cult following in the future?

There's a few more best of JB songs to post.......

It may be that he feeds on the limelight, and since it's harder to get now, a creepy stunt will do it. Maybe I should relay that insight to Usher or Scooter, huh?

It's a passing condition, a stage of dealing with fame and being surrounded with fans and worshippers and yes men. Having his Mom, Scooter and Usher and his old friends read him the riot act offers some hope, which of course is how I look at it, because I want him to succeed and keep making good music; not a particular concern of others here But drugs are a problem, not a solution, for him, especially someone with druggy Neptune going through his sun sign now and for several more years to come.

But of course you have to throw in an acronym. DS, what? whut???

DSM = Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

This song was written and produced by Bieber, and his guitarist Dan Kanter apparently wrote the guitar parts. In two interviews I've seen, he says this is the song he's proudest of, or the best one he's done. It's my number two or three favorite of his too. And it's the first and so-far only one I've performed publically, having made an arrangement for piano and sang it. It's the kind of song people can sing more easily than some of his others. His voice may still sound immature (as in the beginning of the song), and that's a big deal to the Bieber detractors. But other than that, it's as good as the best soft-rock of the James Taylor, Carole King style. It is a soulful, emotional song with some brilliant melody, and some romantic lyrics, especially the part when Selena (whom this song is probably written for) "holds his heart" in her arms.

He has done a lot of acoustic performances on stage and on record, to "show he's not just a manufactured artist." But he says he "gets the most thrill in life performing acoustic songs on stage." This song "Be Alright" has become the prototype for a lot of what he's done since; softer ballads with less production. It's more of his own work, and less people helping him; less of the "Bieber musical industrial complex." I miss the greater production, since I like elaborate music; however, the new songs are good too, written and performed with a lot of artistry.

I pray for Justin too!

Prayer can be a good thing, vandals notwithstanding. Justin's is one of the best musical prayers ever made since the days of Bach. I salute him for it again.

The last of my "best of" JB songs is this one.

Good song written by Bieber, with a funky production sound by Soundz (Kenneth Coby) that blends very well. This is only a bonus track on Believe, and not as well known. Excellent vocal too.

I also liked two tracks from his Believe Acoustic album, Nothing Like Us and Yellow Raincoat, as well as some tracks from his new Journals album which I posted above a couple of pages back.

All right. I've seen enough.

Justin Bieber is Brittany Spears' even more obnoxious kid brother - or nephew perhaps.
But maybe if the putative Robin Hoods stopped trying to take from law-abiding citizens and give to criminals, take from men and give to women, take from believers and give to anti-believers, take from citizens and give to "undocumented" immigrants, and take from heterosexuals and give to homosexuals, they might have a lot more success in taking from the rich and giving to everyone else.

Don't blame me - I'm a Baby Buster!

CNN) -- A rich kid gets pulled over driving a yellow Lamborghini in Miami Beach by police and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence while allegedly street racing. It happens, but when it happens to Justin Bieber, it's beyond a big deal.
The teen idol is just the latest young star to run afoul of both the police and public relations folks. But is it to be expected when a teen has both fame and access to so much wealth?
Tons of young stars with more money than years behind them have run into such troubles before. For many, standing on the precipice of adulthood or just over that line, has appeared to trigger a spate of issues
In recent years, Lindsay Lohan, Chris Brown and Amanda Bynes have dominated headlines with legal issues and rehab stints.

Justin Bieber's downward spiral: What to tell the kids?

(CNN) -- Here's yet another time when I'm oh-so-thankful my kids are too young to a) be Justin Bieber fans and b) know anything about his arrest and Lamborghini joy ride allegedly under the influence of marijuana, alcohol and prescription drugs.

I'm sure you know by now Dog (or if not, where ya been?) that the drag race and DUI was a fiction cooked up by the police, and that the charges were dropped for lack of evidence, not because he was Justin Bieber.

But other incidents are cause for concern. As I said on the other thread, everything about Justin Bieber is unbelievable. Unbelievable that a teen pop star could be so good, so creative, so talented (and therefore--- people don't believe it!). Or unbelievable that he is so popular and get so much press, or that someone like me likes him. Unbelievable that he could be so bright and mature for his age. And unbelievable that he could fall into trouble so fast, even though he was told (even by Oprah), and said himself, that he knew it could happen to him, and claimed to be smart enough that it wouldn't.

As I wrote above, he enters a new phase, a new model of Justin Bieber, every year so far. We are due for the new model to be rolled out. I hope so; the current spree of bad temper tamtrums, smoking/drinking and weird stunts, might have a bad effect on a career that has so much promise, as well as so much accomplished so young. I agree that sudden wealth and fame so early can go to your head and your appetites. I was not really happy that he bought a mansion in Hollywood and got cool cars. He had been a philanthropist until then.

He claimed in his song "Born to Be Somebody," as well as in articles and interviews, that "he is here to stay." So he promises, and if so, I look forward to many more models of Justin Bieber and lots more great music from this unbelievable guy. He'll have to stay out of jail though.

I think he could start by ditching the Elvis/greaser look and bring back the Beatle hairdo.
