I respect Bieber as a person, because he puts out good music, and good music does not need to be political. I respect Bieber even more because he is making a comeback from his melt-down and reforming his behavior. Someone who does that, is very worthy of respect. He is not letting the negative judgement of others keep him down, or giving up after making some mistakes. He deserves a break and forgiveness, especially considering all his good works (including his music, which so elevates the condition of pop music today. That means a lot to me.).
I'll check out Disturbed and see...

fair enough if he is starting to grow up. You did however want our opinion and that was mine on him. I wish to see for me anyway people to quit with the idiotic behaviour. My opinion anyway. Kayne is worse. Far worse. I will give him that. At least he doesnt think he is a god.
Good; yes, be fair to him
Yes I did.You did however want our opinion and that was mine on him.
If you mean Kanye, he doesn't even do real music either! (rap = ugh)I wish to see for me anyway people to quit with the idiotic behaviour. My opinion anyway. Kayne is worse. Far worse. I will give him that. At least he doesn't think he is a god.
I actually like Kanye's music, but his personality is toxic.
To recommend thrift to the poor is both grotesque and insulting. It is like advising a man who is starving to eat less.

Great new song by JB:
over 100 million views and 1.5 million likes in a month. still going strong on you tube!
"What Do You Mean?" is a song recorded by Canadian singer Justin Bieber for his upcoming fourth studio album. The song was announced on July 28, 2015, on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and released on August 28, 2015, as the album's lead single.[1] It was well received by music critics. The track was also a commercial success, it topped the charts in 17 countries and became Bieber's first number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 where it debuted with first-week sales of 337,000 copies.

I enjoyed hearing it on the Think it Up special.
Live on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon:

More comments from me: this song is truly magical. The Tonight Show performance especially, even despite the brief rap.
I am going to give it a like today. Maybe even a favorite later. It may be rising to number two among my Bieber favorites (there's a lot of space between #1 Pray and current #2 Be Alright). I am not up to speed on the songs of 2015, but it seems likely this one would be my favorite of the year. Recall others beat out Bieber for that honor in 2012 (Good Time) 2013 (Best Song Ever) and 2014 (Happy).
If some of you have thoughts about Bieber's talents as a drummer, you might want to check this out:

The end of the above video kind of reminds me of this other young JB, sort of!

You have to recognize a good song when you hear it, regardless of who is singing it, don't let your need to fit in with society by disliking someone cloud your judgement by predetermining it.
Yeah man!

Listened to it. Nope sorry not my thing. No, not me trying to fit in I just do not like his music. I think Jason Durelo's music is exciting. Look up his song Cheyenne. Also Uptown Funk is a latest fave too. Now that is exciting music for me. But you have to give me credit....I am so far the only one here who has listened to it and commented.

Bieber's songs to me are so much better. Always melodic and well-crafted. This one in particular has a special vibe too. Bieber's songs have a musical structure that is for the ages. Very few people here seem to get it. And I do think it's because they don't want to admit it. I hope someday, someone here will admit it. But thanks for chiming in.
I do think pop has improved in the 4T. The Durelo song is OK; it has its moments.
Eric, people are just different and have different tastes. That is pretty much it. I honestly gave my opinion. Durelo however has given me some hope there is music I like out there that is recent music. Durelos music speaks to ME personally. It is what I like. As for Bieber, I really gave an honest opinion. I would not have bothered with listening to it otherwise.

Everyone here is different from me
(I don't really believe everyone is so different.... but maybe it's true..... it's been really strange....a twilight zone experience.... what am I to make of it? I won't say, don't want to argue...)
Thank goodness there are so many who truly admire an artist (JB) who is making good music. I am so happy that this song has come out. Bieber is on track again! And I think he has helped to uplift pop music today. It's better. Lots of lousy and mediocre stuff in pop still, but now, there's some good stuff too.
And his new album is coming out. There's more to come.
People do love music. Music makes us similar. You are right when it comes to certain music being admired and standing out from the rest but people put in their life experiences into what makes them like certain music over others. I was very honest in my opinion. I grew up during the bubblegum pop era so I tend to look towards music that takes me back to that era. So, I look for certain styles. I love the upbeat stuff. But my mother also raised me on her stuff too like cliff richard so I also look for things that have a dramatic emotional tone which gives me goosebumps. Like Heathcliff....all songs from that stage performance. It is thoughtful and emotional. Gives me goosebumps ever time I listen to those songs. I get the same reaction to Cheyenne. That is just me though. Bieber's music does not hit that upbeat sound I am looking for nor does his music tend to give me that internal shudder I get from Cliff or Durello. Yes, Bieber is good for uplifting spirits I am sure in an angry time and so he is doing something good for society in that regard. He is here in NZ atm. I hope he is behaving while here.

These guys dance up a storm. Do you have this much energy?
It's a great dance tune!

Actually, I see that Uptown Funk is by Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars.
Not gonna be my fave, anywhere near. I don't hate it tho. It may surpass Baby in you tube views, and already in likes, like a few others this year (this one was released late last year).
The Taylor Swift and Katy Perry songs challenging Bieber's #2 position with Baby don't impress me even a little.

There's an annual contest at Bond University, Australia, calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term:
The winning student wrote:
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."
His performance at the Video Music Awards, a few days after his great new single came out
And then he explains on the Tonight Show why he got emotional at the end:

No Rags; Bieb's song is such a cool jam, you'd never dance to ACDC like these young studs dance to What Do You Mean. Incredible.
I love this guy's reaction. He can't help dancing!

Here JB gets some ribbing from Ellen, and performs a short acoustic version of his latest single "Sorry"
His live versions seem better than the recorded version vocally, but the record has some cool production and instrumental sounds toward the end. Probably Skrillix and Diplo are involved.

Adele leaves me mystified. She is a good singer, but I don't get much music from her songs. I don't really understand her success; kinda like most of you feel about Bieber.
But, Bieber's songs have musical content. I like that better than just a good voice.
Bieber was also beaten out for the Grammy award by Adele in 2011, I believe.
But while Adele's successful album premiere is amazing, and bumps Bieber from number 1 on the album chart, Bieber got a consolation prize: another #1 single ("Sorry") on the Digital chart, as another song from "Purpose" knocked Adele's "Hello" out of #1 there.
On the Billboard Hot 100 Adele's "Hello" is still listed as #1, followed by "Sorry," a new Drake song "Hotline Bling", (which Bieber also has made a remix of already), then Bieber's "Love Yourself" at #4, and the great former #1 hit "What Do You Mean" holding on to #5; so 3 out of the top 5 are Bieber songs. Not only is kinser wrong that "his career is over," he's never been higher. He has about a dozen songs on the top 100 chart this week.
Adele leaves Bieber, One Direction in dust on Billboard chart

Adele beat all comers on the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts on Monday with a record-breaking debut for "25," leaving other top acts like Justin Bieber and British boy band One Direction looking like also-rans.
The British songstress sold 3.48 million copies in the first week of release for "25," making it the biggest-selling album of 2015 and the only album to surpass 3 million sales in one week since Nielsen began tracking sales in 1991, Nielsen Music said.
Adele's success pushed Bieber's "Purpose" into second place, with 290,090 sales in its second week, while One Direction had to settle for third with sales of 108,445 units of its release "Made in the A.M.," also in its second week.
Sales of "25" comprised 41 percent of all U.S. album sales last week, Nielsen said.
Adele's Grammy-winning 2011 album "21" also saw a boost, rising to ninth place on the Billboard 200 from 25th the week before.
But Bieber had the upper hand on the Digital Song charts, which measure online download sales. His single "Sorry" unseated Adele's "Hello," for the top spot, five weeks after both were released. The Canadian pop singer's "Love Yourself" also took the No. 3 spot ahead of Adele's new single "When We Were Young."
The only other Top 10 newcomers to the Billboard 200 charts were American rapper Jadakiss, whose album "Top 5 Dead or Alive" debuted at No. 4 with just over 66,000 sales, and Irish singer Enya's comeback album, "Dark Sky Island," which landed at No. 8 with 47,700 units sold.
The Billboard 200 chart tallies units from album sales, song sales (10 songs equal one album) and streaming activity (1,500 streams equal one album).
