What makes Bernie unelectable in the general, in one chart

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...-donald-trump/

Sanders is dark blue; Clinton is light; the evil ones are in various shades of red (befitting).

The GOP is lickin its chops to tell everyone how Bernie will raise everyone's taxes while they promise to cut.

There's only one way that will work out, his nomination will result in a President Trump or a President Cruz.

Sanders' supporters will build that... and need to know they will have to explain that to their kids and grandkids when they come asking why they have to live under the latest of many fascist SCOTUS decisions, along with all the other war and pestilence that awaits the control of government by the Right wingnuts. Tell them about your promised magic ponies.

If the American people are stupid enough to continue falling for anti-tax BS then this country deserves morons like Trump.

Are you ready with your mea culpa if the anointed-one gets beaten by Trump? That may be the end of both parties, and it's not all that unlikely.

More to the point, will the apparatchiks in the Democratic Party accept their responsibility for that? They pushed out Dean and they lost with Kerry. Now they're pushing Sanders to the wall, and may be enabling a Trump win. I don't see Hillary as being a strong candidate at all. For those of you who do, take the hit if it all goes sour.

It's funny how the Democratic primary is getting somewhat race-based in red states. White voters for lefty Sanders in states that vote Republican, and black voters for center-lefty Clinton in states that also vote Republican.

Might be for the best. Our party system needs to change.

More to the point, will the apparatchiks in the Democratic Party accept their responsibility for that? They pushed out Dean and they lost with Kerry.
Dean was no better than Kerry, and probably worse. That's why I predicted here that Kerry would be nominated.

Now they're pushing Sanders to the wall, and may be enabling a Trump win. I don't see Hillary as being a strong candidate at all. For those of you who do, take the hit if it all goes sour.
It might happen. But I'm not sure who is "pushing Sanders to the wall." It's been a fairly gentle campaign. But I admit I was taken aback by teacher in exile's post about Democratic candidates who succeed an incumbent and have to fight off a primary challenge. The record is not good. The implication is that we need to get behind Hillary, even if Sanders is better.

It is up to Hillary to be a good candidate, and there's only so much she can do to turn around who she is and what she's done. But it's also up to liberals and Democrats to understand the stakes, and they are high. We can't afford ever again to accept a Republican victory in hopes it will cause Democrats to win later with someone better. That mojo just doesn't fly. 4 minutes of total Republican rule is a disaster, let alone 4 or 8 years or more. And remember Hillary had a very high approval rating until not so long ago. The Republicans have smeared her, with help from the media. But she's probably not guilty of anything that she's been accused of. That's what happened to Kerry too, of course. But the Clintons have the ability to fight back against smears, where Kerry did not.

Fortunately, I've discovered another couple of indicators that favor both Hillary and Sanders over the Republicans. The keys and the primary fight patterns are important. But having a crystal ball might be good too. I do, and it says the Democrats are likely to win.

The other hope, of course, is that we are entering a period of Democratic dominance, in spite of the mid term meltdowns. The demographics favor this, and the Republicans have gone off the deep end. If this is true, then what happened with Garfield in 1880 can happen again. In a period of Republican dominance like that, Republicans were favored for that reason alone, even when the odds (cosmic and otherwise) were against them.

I think it's because they think she would not be running if she knew she had done anything wrong.

What do you think such a blow up would do to the chances of a Democratic win in November, by either Bernie OR Hillary?

Remember, if Democrats don't win, they lose all 3 branches of government, at the federal and state level, for who knows how long. What do you think the chances are of our nation and world surviving total Republican rule?

I'm sure she was not ignorant of the law. I don't know if she was ignorant about what was classified and what wasn't.

I'm sure she was not ignorant of the law. I don't know if she was ignorant about what was classified and what wasn't.
The problem with HAVING such an email is that Hillary has no control over someone SENDING HER classified info (or sensitive info that should be classified and which an intelligence analyst can use to deduce the US Govt.'s stance on a subject) even if she does not SEND such info. Already a number of those emails have been classified.
When a man can almost lose his security clearance and his job for idly spinning the dial of his office safe with classified info in it, security is something that has to be taken VERY seriously.
This could blow up in Hillary's face even if Hillary isn't indicted. For the reasons you just mentioned, Eric, it is too easy to ascribe political motives for a non-indictment. A major segment of the public will NOT believe that a failure to indict Hillary Clinton is NOT politically motivated and for that reason, may build political support for Trump because of an attitude "Damn it! These crooks don't get to win this time!" Gore had nothing to do with the Clinton Scandals of the 90s and should have won against a lightweight Republican challenger. The weight of the Clinton Scandals dragged Gore down even as it made Democrats, especially African-Americans close ranks behind the Clintons and Gore.
No, the Dems may have lost their chance to keep the White House (dicey after an incumbent's two terms in any case) by "pre-selecting" Hillary Clinton. An indictment and Hillary withdrawing leaving Sanders the nominee by default is probably the only way the Dems can defeat Trump or Cruz now. The Dems really should have gone with Joe Biden or failing that, Martin O'Malley if they don't like Bernie.

The problem is that nobody knows what Bryan meant by that anymore. Nor does anyone not thinking biblically (as people did at that time) even understand the reference). The Gold Standard meant tight money. Bryan lost because the country actually started pulling out of the Panic of 1893 during 1896.
