Hot damn. My station rose another 5 cents to $3.19 in one day. All the local stations I've seen today are at least $3.09.

I am no expert, but I'll hazard a guess.

1) Gas stations buy gas from their distributer each day. The price that the distributer charges changes daily, so the gas station thus adjusts his price.

2) Gas is cheaper in locations where the rent that the gas station owner must pay for his station is cheaper.

Any comments from people who know more than me?

FWIW: This is only the fifth time the word “shan’t” has been used in a post on T4T. Besides Virgil those who have used it are: Bob Butler, Roadbldr, Mary Fitzmas, and Opie. I don’t use “shan’t” at all. If I had used it down at the Toledo Y in the 1950s the other boys would have kicked the crap out of me.

Are you sure it was me? I don't believe I've ever used 'shan't' either spoken or in print... though it's possible I may have heard someone else (Jenny?) use it and mindless parroted the word back out!

Premium is still, amazingly, holding steady at $2.999 at my neighborhood filling station. However several others around Vancouver are inching over the $3 mark... and at the most expensive station in town (off I-5 at Mill Plain Boulevard) it's up to $3.219.

Up four cents to $2.93 in the People's Republic of Cambridge...

Bear in mind that my corner store is, from what I can tell, close to the local floor in terms of price. I've seen $2.98 and $3.05 quoted in places closer to high-speed thoroughfares. Mass. Ave. is a major thoroughfare, but a decidedly low-speed and local one.

OK, the neighborhood 76 finally ticked over the mark to $3.059. The price of gas in Vancouver now exceeds its post-Katrina high. And we haven't even reached Memorial Day yet.

Well dip me in mustard and call me a hot dog!

Three days later the corner station jumps 10 cents to $3.29. I sh*t you not.

It's only 2.89 here. Although the 10mpg 20gal tanked Durango is getting low. (yikes!), I keep waiting hoping for a dip. Even the Corolla is almost 30$ a tank.

Funny thing is I'm the bike riding oil-guy at work. none of em knew what to think when I bought that thing. One guy even accused me of not being a democrat (remember where I work!). All I could think of was that for taking the kids one mile to school and back twice a day, these things were sure going at fire sale prices.

Buying a new prius for that might get me the moral high ground, but at the cost of tremendous financial stupidity.

Prices have remained stable since the last time I mentioned them.

Maybe it's time to dump the Durango... while you still can! I'm having a vision of 1979 Cadillacs rusting on dealers' new car lots and selling for less than Honda Civics.

Well, it's close to the end of its useful life, and I don't drive much. 130k miles, and I drive the kids to school 1 mile away. Even to go bike riding in the next town, is only 15 miles round trip. That's why it was an ok purchase.

However, if my geographic situation were to change, then yes I do need to unlad it.

Speaking on actual cost, how much do you actually spend a week on Gas? On average I spend about 12 dollars. The only real driving I do are 2 weekly trips to the community college which is about 23 miles away, or 95 miles a week .
I drive about 20 miles a week at 16 mpg (Ford F250-V6 engine) $3.50 to $3.75 a week.
