I paid 1.839 at Kroger, but some of that was their standard store-card credit. Without that, Mike's is still the best I've seen.

Last week, crude tumbled below $42 a barrel, down from $100 last year...
The big problem is the world still has more oil than it needs, especially given China's economic slowdown. The American energy boom that began last decade created a supply glut. OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, has been unwilling to balance the market by cutting production.
The oversupply problem may very well be amplified by the Iran nuclear deal. If the historic agreement goes forward, sanctions relief will allow Iran to drastically increase output...
[Well. A temporary silver lining to a bad deal. Unless you're in, or invested in, the oil business.]

Actually, I do have a modest investment in oil, and in natural gas. Over the years, I've done pretty well in my modest investments by buying stuff when it's beat down.
For example, in 2008 I made a few bucks betting on Bank of America, simply because they had a huge market share at the time. It worked, but I didn't sit on it very long.
And I bet on Canadian banks when the banks were beat down, because they took the same hit that American banks took, but the Canadians regulate their banks and they didn't have the same exposure to crap. That one worked out really well.
I also bet on Ford in 2008, as it was the only car company that didn't take government bailout bucks. That worked out too.
I think my oil and natural gas plays will have to be long-term plays. We'll see.

The winning student wrote:

To recommend thrift to the poor is both grotesque and insulting. It is like advising a man who is starving to eat less.
