Not all alike!

Wiz - even the theory says there are people who are not their generational persona and fight against it with all their might, as well as those who simply let it go by. For a GI with a Prophet personality, I give you Pete Seeger.

Anyway, too bad - we'll miss you.

Generational theory describes entire generations of people, not specific individuals. You are part of the Millenial Generation, but that doesn't mean you have to display Millenial traits.

Simply knowing about generational theory can change your whole perspective about life and people. I think this is especially true for Heroes, for various reasons. I discovered it when I was 15, so this is one-fifth of my life and most of my teenage years. I'm very much of a loner too and I find myself increasingly mentally alienated from my Millenial peers.

This generational stuff is very taxing, and I too have at times simply tried forgetting it. I always come back in the morning though, since I know it's true.

At odds with gen

The message given here hits home with me, being that I am very much at odds with much of my generation. According to S & H I am a Boomer, but was born a bit before the traditional starting point for that gen(Nov. 1944). I have rejected much of the "win at all cost" rhetoric that Boomers seemed to embrace once they exited their "free love" phase, for example. I try to believe in all things in balance, and am very disturbed by the direction such a significant portion of my generation has taken. So much for their youthful mantra of peace, love and understanding!

And also, astrology works the same way. Books on that subject tend to assume that everyone born under one zodiac sign have common personality traits, and we all know that this isn't really true either.

I know. There are some times the Silent personality is so not me, and at other times I'm surprised to find how well it fits. At any rate - there are always things like Idealist civics (like Pete Seeger), hard-bitten Boomers (check out any poor rural community), etc.
