MBTI step II type : Expressive INTP
There's an annual contest at Bond University, Australia, calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term:
The winning student wrote:
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."
Of course.
They use the UCB MAGI approach found here -

and the person on the phone will walk you through line-by-line your tax return to derive the expected income - no charge.
If your friend didn't file a tax return, she's got bigger problems with the govt than her health insurance. Oh, unless, of course, this is your friend -

Just a few years ago, lawmakers in this left-leaning state viewed President Obama’s Affordable Care Act as little more than a pit stop on the road to a far more ambitious goal: single-payer, universal health care for all residents. Then things unraveled...
...Mr. Shumlin and his advisers concluded the plan would require “enormous” new taxes, including an 11.5 percent payroll tax on all Vermont businesses and a sliding-scale income tax of up to 9.5 percent. In all, he said when he announced that he was shelving it, the plan would require about $2.5 billion in additional revenue in its first year, in a state that raises only about $2.7 billion in taxes annually...
That "unravelling" is called "reality."

Big premium increases that Minnesota insurers proposed last week reflect losses they’ve been taking in a part of the market targeted by the federal health law...
...Low rates that some people initially found on MNsure have already started to go away.
Golden Valley-based PreferredOne made a big splash in 2014 during the first year of the exchange, but had to pull out of MNsure for 2015 after low rates proved unsustainable. The company increased premiums by an average of 63 percent for 2015, prompting thousands of subscribers to take their business elsewhere...
-Huh. High prices lead people to take their business elsewhere. Do tell...
-No, I know what the amygdala is, thanks. I'm just referring to the fact that PW has apparrently discovered a new word.
Ah! This is what he's about:
...a bit of fuzzy research. I'm surprised Suj Rani Nihilist hasn't commented. Or has she? Oh well.
OTOH, there's an important study which decades have never contradicted:

(p. 61, #59)
...we discover that the panicky bedwetters who pee their pants, run away, or shoot their own guys by accident were actually most likley to be those who described themselves as "very liberal."
This shouldn't surprise us; if there's anyone who's irrationally fearful, it's proggies, who appease anyone who wants to kill them and are convinced that the end of the welfare state would result in everyone starving to death, naked, in the snow!
-Ah! It should be interesting to see the battle between the bands duelling leftist thugs and their competing interests!

Medical insurance subsidies are supposed to be a public benefit for those in need.

She can comment on it all she wants, but it will probable help more if she provides her research study reported in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. You see, that's what people with fully-functional cerebral lobes would make their judgement upon. You, on the other hand just need some words from any source that you can blow up into large colorized fonts to get that oversized amygdala jerking off and call that 'thinkin.'
Leave it to an amygdala-dominated to find 'intellectual' encouragement in a 50+ year old study, based on even older, highly-discredited Marshall data. What next, an 1890's study of women in hoop skirts having difficulties with hitching teams of horses in the 1860s as rationale for why women shouldn't drive sport cars with stick shifts today? What a moron.

There is those that do - with the biggest drop in uninsured ever -
Now those numbers could go to zero with both single payer and extending that to non-documented immigrants, but then there's those a-holes (see "GOP") that fight that every chance they get.
Then there's folks like you that just bitch because, well, your amygdala tells you to.

Sure did; how else would I know their connection to UCB? Using the phone and talking to actual people I guess is a dying art. I guess I'm showing my age.
Why would that surprise anyone when we know that nearly 1/2 of the people opposing the ACA still believe it sets up "death panels" to kill off grandmothers??? Could there be a crack in your usual cynicism?

We should all get use to carrying around our personal MRI scan - eventually, they're going to determine if you get to vote, drive a car, have a kid, etc. Certain folks will probable be able to get all the pot they want to smoke for free based on just having a really bright spot on that right hand side.

They never asked.
Did your conversation start with - "Hey assholes, I'm a nihilist moron who makes t-baggers look good when it come to Obama-hatin and I particularly hate Obamacare as the devil's creation... so, can you help me because I have this friend...."
I'm sure that worked magic for ya.

So we go from me trying to provide you with some info that could help your [imaginary?] friend
to you calling me a pathological liar because someone on the other end of the phone didn't ask where I lived.
You really are a perfect example of the amygdala-dominated.

And here's an example of the cognitive dissonance in the amygdala-dominated sheeple that their elite masters rely upon -
- if you find that incredulous, just remember that nearly half the people that oppose Obamacare still believe it sets up "death panels" to take out grandma.
Truly, amazing.

I don't think it's cognitive dissonance. I think it's a well-seasoned GOP political trying to spin the issue, as usual.
Six million people is a lot.
Well maybe they'll get it fixed.
