81 people dead from Superstorm Sandy. Millions cut off from food, water and power. Thousands of homes and businesses destroyed; incomes disrupted. Those of you like seattleblue who think that deaths from American bombs are important, but deaths from superstorms are not, need to consider that our inaction on climate change is the direct cause of this disaster and these deaths. Storms worldwide have gotten more severe, and sea levels have risen, as a result of our inaction, according to science. You don't have to disbelieve in or dismiss religion in order to understand that science gives us facts about such things. And it is the Republicans in congress and in state governments who are blocking action on climate change. I assume you all have read the scorecard I posted, and the questionnaires I posted on which presidential candidates you agree with. See for yourself. The difference between the two major parties, especially in congress and even between the presidential candidates on this issue is a vast gulf, almost 100 to zero. With a great election a week away, it is the time to consider how your vote and your activism makes a difference on this most-vital issue of our time.

But if you're going to place bets ... at least pay up!
Any images I have of you and Justin are just based on what you have typed on this forum.

Live by the keyboard and get 'imaged' by the keyboard.

Beside, you could always send the photos I requested to clear this whole thing up.

Rather than clarify your image against its portrayals by a playwrite, perhaps you'd care to speak to the issue he is actually raising. What is to be done about climate change? How will your vote impact this issue?

Heh. If only that were the case. Oftentimes, though, it seems based on what you write that a large part of the image you have (of me at least) comes from your own filling-in whatever blanks there might actually be, or that you decide to create by selectively ignoring, disregarding, or misreading what I've written here. From your own imagination, I must assume.

If you're asking if I want your photo: no, not really.

There's a lot of that going on in both directions. For example, do you really think I'm a communist?

Hmmm... not really what I was getting at, but at least it's along a direction identifiable as the intersection of a pair of planes in the same phase-space in which I was talking. Let's call that an auspicious start, eh?

Huhwut? I'm not a fan of throwing around historical terms unless I'm referring to the actual things those terms are about. You, I've managed to peg pretty well as a tool-fetishist. As far as a communist, though.... maybe you're thinking of another poster with a J in their name? There's that one who likes to toss around buzzwords left and right. He even called me a commie at one point.

It's not okay to vote 3rd party -

- if you are a Progressive!

If Obama wins the election by way of the Electoral College but Romney wins the popular vote (more likely now with NY and NJ having lower turnout due to Sandy), the Right wingnut world is already working the meme of Obama having no "mandate" and that he better move to his Right. So if you think Obama is too far to the Right already, you're basically going to force him (or give him an excuse or whatever you want to call it) to move even further away from you! And it will be for another 4 years!

You might say that your 3rd party vote will send a signal otherwise, but remember, you're in that group with Libertarian wing nuts that are farther to the Right than Romney/Ryan/Cantor – it will appear as a “wash” and that’s assuming anyone is going to pay the slightest attention to it.

Most , by far, won't pay attention. The meme will be Romney beat Obama in the popular vote so Obama better do what McConnell and Boehner tell him to do. Remember them? They’ve been keeping a low profile for obvious reason, but after the election, they are back, BIG TIME. How big depends on this key question of "mandate" for Obama.

And what is the agenda that McConnell/Boehner have that they will push Obama on? To screw the living shit out of every value and ideal that you supposedly hold dear – from having the rich pay their fair share to avoiding needless wars.

So, if you rather live in magic pony land than forward your supposed values and ideals, go ahead and vote 3rd party with the excuse that you are not in a battleground state. That would clearly show you really don't give a shit about those values and ideals; you just like to appear and/or feel holier-than-thou. You'll get what you deserve.

Problem is, I get it too.

Don't hold your breath. It is far more likely that JPT will come up with another conspiracy theory, this time about vote rigging.

Romney can win, but the odds are against him.

Good, but your vote does matter, even if not very much. Also, people can add to the impact of their vote by campaigning or donating.

What government does, or doesn't do, makes a difference. Or have I not made that point before? (it seems you still don't get it....)

What about us Green wingnuts?

Actually, as far as I can tell from those questionnaires, Johnson is in the middle to middle-right, and Romney is shockingly right-wing on all of them. Take one and see. Here's the one I also posted on my facebook page

Doing it more than once can be fun too! My latest results showed a decline in both Obama's and Romney's percentage:
Stein 95%, Anderson 78%, Obama 63%, Johnson 58%, Goode 7%, Romney 3%

Most, by far, won't pay attention.
Good point. A better one is that we may want to vote Democratic in the congressional and many other races in order to help evict Boehner and other Republicans from their posts.

The other side of the coin is that a vote for a 3rd party adds to the total of the recorded 3rd party vote more noticeably than a vote for a major-party vote adds to theirs. If you really don't think either candidate represents your ideals, values and perceptions, it can be an important statement to make. I'm not saying that your side of the coin is not also worth considering. I haven't finally decided which way to go, except of course for me it would be Stein and not Johnson or any write-in candidate.

Wow, between you and Rani, I might not make it to election day! Or, is that the plan? Totally unfair, but (typical guy) I don't care!
Well, The Rani is hotter (although of course it's not really her), but maybe someone should tell the major candidates that sex sells, before Johnson steals away too many (mostly, but not only, male) votes from them!
