Recent Spamming

I want to thank everyone for your help and pointers as we deal with some spamming attacks. I just deleted, for example, nearly 80 threads that were kept from your view in a moderation queue because of their likelihood for spam.

Keep me posted on what you are seeing. The spam filer is not 100 percent reliable.

My best,

--Craig

Thanks for your diligence. It seems that we're getting about 3 or 4 a day lately.

Craig, there appear to be dozens and dozens of new accounts registered here almost every day. Most of them look to be potential spammers.

I seem to remember that at one point you were trying to make it harder for spammers and dummy accounts to get started here. Could you check into this?

issueprit looks like a spammer--the entirety of their six posts is the same message--word for word--repeated again and again.

"There have always been people who say: "The war will be over someday." I say there's no guarantee the war will ever be over. Naturally a brief intermission is conceivable. Maybe the war needs a breather, a war can even break its neck, so to speak. But the kings and emperors, not to mention the pope, will always come to its help in adversity. ON the whole, I'd say this war has very little to worry about, it'll live to a ripe old age."

Chas, I'm starting to kinda like ol' issueprit! Just look at the way the words flow:
..."hi,i'm new here, so much need to learn"......

It speaks to me on a very deep level kinda like "The Red Wheelbarrow", but different.

I mean there's an initial salutation: "hi"
(Notice the lower case usage as to convey they are not arrogant).

And then again: "i'm new here". Oh aren't we all issueprit; Aren't we all........

And finally: "so much need to learn".

........................!

PoC67

PS: Like a "Double Rainbow".

PPS:..but maybe This!

PPS: issueprit is more interesting than some of the "human" posts, don't ya think?

PPPS:Good Lord, there's a little "Double Rainbow" tribe for "Auto-tune Underground":
Here's Spongebob!
(You just gotta love Auto-tune Nation!)

UPDATE: I now do NOT love "Auto-tune Nation". In fact, I was attempting to be humorous here and relate to the younger generations, but now have changed my mind. In the "double-rainbow" example above, what was a personal expression of the glory of Nature/God, was turned into a "joke".

This speaks to something much darker and deeper whithin our Individual and Generational Personalities and Souls(or lack thereof).

From Maxnumar's responses to different post, I think is he is either a spammer or an alien.

I really like "The Red Wheelbarrow", but for what it is - a really concise and vivid word painting.

Indeed it has. And I am continuing to ramp up the countermeasures. Fact is, you are only seeing about 1-2 percent of what is actually happening. That's too much, of course -- the goal is zero.

The winning student wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

I was going to report this myself, having just hit the boards this morning. I decidedly third the motion. This person is a troll.

Why don't you save yourself some time and just delete the account. Really deleting all of the constant threads this wacko keeps making is just a never-ending process.

I fear that as well. We are rudderless. Any takers as a new Captain?

I figure as long as Neil remains in charge of Lifecourse he will be the defacto Captain. But I haven't heard anything from him since his last blog over a year ago. From what I understand he was active on Facebook when I used to be on there over a year ago, and people tell me that is (or was) a lot of 4T activity there. So I wonder if LC just abandoned the forum format?

I can understand that the site's owners have better things to do than to babysit an old webforum. But we still have a strong core of longtime participants which has helped keep things going. That's why I think the forum can select a couple of community respected moderators (Wonkette, Grey Badger, etc) that can keep the place clean.

I just wonder if its time to start to think about post-4T contacts if the site becomes unusable or eventually shutdown?
